A magical fairytale adventure with a family Christmas twist awaits audiences at the Gaiety Theatre later this month, with support from SMP Partners.
‘Move It into the woods’ will showcase the talents of around 180 local children, all of whom are pupils at dance school Move It Dance. For the first time, the school’s mature students from the adult’s ballet class, will also feature in the production.
The leading corporate service provider is title sponsor of the show, which has been written by the team at the Douglas based school, and features specially choreographed dance routines.
The three performances take place on 30 November (7.30pm) and 1 December (2.30pm and 7.30pm), and combine well-known fairy tale themes such as Snow White, Little Mermaid and Red Riding Hood.
Searching for answers, all the characters are led into the woods to try and find their lost Christmas treasure which the naughty Grinch has stolen!
Kate Caine, who formed Move It Dance in 2011, said: ‘If this won’t get you into the Christmas spirit, nothing will.
‘Hundreds of people have dedicated so much time and effort to bring this fabulous production to the Gaiety stage and we are sure it will be a wonderful fun show you will not want to miss!
‘Students aging from 18 months old to 60 years old, are so excited about the opportunity and, with the ongoing support of SMP Partners making it possible, the confidence and experience it will give them is priceless.’
There will be a huge range of skills on show and includes a diverse selection of dance styles, including contemporary, ballet tap, stunts, cheer, and freestyle.
SMP Partners is a longstanding supporter of performing arts in the Isle of Man, sponsoring major productions at the Gaiety Theatre including The Phantom of the Opera, 9 to 5 and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Mark Denton, Managing Director of SMP Partners, said: ‘We are delighted to be supporting Kate and the team at Move It again.
‘We have been hugely impressed by the hard work and commitment shown by them and all the performers, and this is a wonderful chance for so many to experience the thrill of performing to an audience on the stage of the Gaiety Theatre.
‘I’d like to congratulate them for their dedication and commitment but also the whole Move It team who have been hard at work behind the scenes making this incredible opportunity a reality.’
