The theme of the weekend is 'physical preparation', and is the next important topic for the Sport Aid Academy, a partnership between Isle of Man Sport and sponsors SMP Partners and Newfield.
Day one will involve a series of physical tests designed for athletes to assess their overall fitness. The sessions will be run by strength and conditioning coaches from the Isle of Man Sports Institute, assisted by sports students from University College of Mann and some of the Academy Facilitator's team, which includes people from a wide range of sporting backgrounds.
Chris Quine, Isle of Man Sport Aid Academy Performance Co-ordinator, said: 'Our next event is certain to be action-packed. With more than 70 athletes to screen in just three hours on Saturday it's shaping up to be an eventful morning!
'Our hope is for the young athletes to come away from the sessions with a better understanding of how they match up against some of the key physical performance measures for sports performance. As always, the plan is to engage and enrich so they leave feeling inspired and ready for their next challenge.'
Day two will be run by local sports consultant Paul Jones, along with members of the Academy Facilitator's team. The session will be workshop-based and focus on helping athletes to understand the appropriate training loads through their teenage years whilst their body is growing and developing.
Mark Denton, Managing Director of SMP Partners, said: 'Supporting the Isle of Man Sport Aid Academy continues to be a great pleasure, and we look forward to each event.
'Physical preparation is fundamental to the success of any sportsperson, and having two sessions dedicated to this will emphasise its importance and help set them up for success. As always, the skills they learn in the academy also help with their wider development, with self-awareness and determination being important life lessons. '
Director at Newfield Mark Reynolds said: 'Isle of Man sporting talent is exceptional, and it is highly rewarding to be involved with such a well-thought out programme.
'Each session has been carefully designed to enhance the development of the athletes. We are really enjoying being involved with the academy as it supports these young people at such an important stage of their journey.'
